What foods can we try?

I want to do a 'trying new foods' activity with the DC's, but am struggling to come up with ideas, what have you tried? I'm looking for something that's a bit unusual, but that's not going to put them off ever trying anything again.

ok

for eg, we have Bastille Day coming up so you could do French Foods -

Croissant and Bonne Maman Jam

Cat's Tongue biscuits (Langue du Chat)

French cheese eg Boursin with baguette

Crepes, of course

Paris Cafe type music, Tricolore activity, counting to ten etc to extend if you fancy, Carmargue horses, onion string necklaces/dress up with stripey tops and berets, follow whatever the children's interests might include)

I make a ticklist with each foodstuff, the children stick on smileys or sad faces/draw them, tick or cross (I help the children as and when they need it)

Any good?

Obv risk assess as normal

like star fruit maybe passion fruit, or fig? physalis?

olives?

chilli chocolate?

smoked salmon?

Fab ideas thanks! Love the idea of theming the whole day around a country, I think they'd really like that.
