Can I still work PT elsewhere until I get FT mindees?

I'm intending to become a FT childminder & am doing my courses etc whilst still working PT, but is there any reason why I couldn't continue with my current job if I have someone wanting just a few days a week (ie cm 2 or 3 days & PT job on the other days)? I'm hoping to be made redundant so am reluctant to hand in my notice just yet & figure most people will be looking a month or so ahead but not sure if this is 'allowed'. Anyone know?

Can't see any reason at all why it wouldn't be allowed - sounds fine to me. I am a newly registered cm and only work 2.5 days a week anyway through choice. You just need to make sure you allow properly for tax being employed and self-employed at the same time.

I would talk to HMRC, but in theory there's no reason why not.

I did it when I first started cm hth

Definitely. I have regularly had other employment whilst childminding. It just means you have a couple of extra pages (employment pages) to complete when you do your tax return.

Thank you that is a relief as it would certainly take the pressure off initially.
