I'm really sorry if I'm being particularly dim but going round the houses between Ofsted & my LA and no clearer on the application process.

I'm booked in with my LA pre-reg briefing for next month then will be going direct to Ofsted for my registration as I dont want to wait for my LA course in September. Should I book myself onto a first aid course & submit CRB application now or should I submit the Ofsted application first? There are a few things I need to get done at home before anyone comes to inspect (securing fencing, finishing some decorating) and havent even started on paperwork so don't want to submit the application & then find Ofsted on my doorstep the following week! I only made the decision to register a week ago & already have enquires for September start so am keen to find the quickest possible route to registration.
Thanks LCN

Book yourself onto the first aid course and send off your Ofsted application - they'll then send you your CRB forms to complete.

Also send off your references with the forms so Ofsted aren't hanging about writing to people and waiting.

You don't need everything in place for your pre-reg visit as long as you can show what you intend to do and when you'll do it by Smile

Yes - agree with Flisspaps. I would secure the fencing but wouldn't worry about the decorating. I had certain things not sorted at my pre-reg but just pointed them out and told them what I was going to do about it - like bleach and chemicals in a bathroom cupboard with no lock, no stairgates, playroom not properly sorted, no baby equipment around etc.
The policies she was interested in were safeguarding, behaviour, accident and emergency, medical log and risk assessment, so it might be sensible to get those up together fairly quickly. You need to send in the Ofsted application so they get the ball rolling with the CRBs.
