Downstairs toilet light switch is broken, it has snapped. The room has no windows so need the light. The contractor coming to fix it isn't coming till next week. My house is only registered for downstiars use, so do I need to inform OFSTED that mindees will be using upstairs loo?

Sorry Saltire, I don't know the answer to your question, but I just had to say Oh. My. God. I totally believe the answer to your question could in fact be yes and that your question is a completely reasonable one but still, Oh. My. God.

Could you put a battery lantern on cistern, as a short term solution? I would

i guess there might be a way how to put light into the room in this case, but the question remains the same if it was the actuall loo that was out of order. hmm.

I am only registered for downstairs but it says may not use the first floor (except for use of the bathroom) so maybe a quick phonecall and ask for an email confirming safe to use it

My certificate says not to use upstairs. Hmm, difficult isn't it
