Childminders Club: ADVERTISING TIPS.....................

Morning ladies

Some of the newer mumsnetters are in need of advertising help so I thought I'd start a new thread with the info from the previous one (to save scrolling).

The first list is for online advertising, below it are other suggestions. If anyone has any suggestions to add, please go ahead

TIP (online adverts)......

When advertising with descriptions, put your area but also mention surrounding local areas, like this for me:

.......in Spencers Wood, Reading (near Shinfield, Arborfield, Swallowfield, Three Mile Cross, Lower Earley etc.).......

This means that other areas will be picked up when people search on google and other search engines. All my business so far has been outside my own village so if someone is searching their area and say you are the village next door, as long as it's in your adverts, you should appear on the search!

Does that make sense???

BTW, most of these things take a little time to appear online so be patient

Some of these allows links to websites (IF you have one) for free, others charge and others don't offer it. Anyway, get yourself on as many as possible and you should find (given time) that you appear on things like searches on google.

I.e. if you put 'Childminder in Spencers Wood' (that's me ), you should see me listed loads!!

dont know if anyone on on here advertises on ebay but theres a few childminders that do.

I've just done a search for childminder hoping that some toys and stuff would come up and minders with vacancies did.

Not tried it myself so I don't know how effective it is.

jellyjelly · 10/03/2006 12:12

helly does

HellyBelly · 10/03/2006 12:15

I have but the only interest I got was in who did the website funny enough (this is how I ended up starting the business). Anyway, I've now been banned from this type of advertising as they don't like you putting DO NOT BID etc. and advertising services that clearly aren't auctions. Having said that, I'm sure someone must have grassed me up and I doubt they'd do this for childminder advertising so worth a try! :) If you are worried, you could maybe set up a separate profile for this advertising (if you already have an ebay account).

Sorry if that didn't make sense! Grin really tired today!

You wouldn't be breaking the Ebay rules if you put in a listing for a day/weeks childcare ? Or a dutch auction with your hourly rate as the auction price so people can pick how many hours they want. Anyone tried that?

I think its the DO NOT BID bit that means they won't get any final value fees out of you that they object to.

chezbabe101 · 25/04/2006 18:46

I can't join the care 4 advertising because I havent yet joined the NCMA, I'm registered but have no children to look after so didnt want to waste (now 4 months) of the free public liability insurance they gave me, any ideas on advertising? have tried everything, am very fed up :(

ayla99 · 02/05/2006 12:17

Here's another site for the list, I've checked and they are happy to include Regsitered Childminders - use the Add Nursery button to get a free listing. If you want to pay for an enhanced listing it costs childminders £20 not £45 as stated on site. (Still too dear for me!)

Hi Ladies
I'm looking for a little bit of help. Are there any childminders on here? Do any of you receive communications regarding the industry where people may advertise? I.E a newsletter/industry updates etc. I am trying to get in touch with anyone who publishes this type of thing. I am trying to advertise lease opportunities which are ideal for child minders/childcare organisations - for example 8 seaters/9seaters. I am trying to capture a mass audience but cannot seem to find anyone that may send out anything. I am looking to obviously pay for this so the only help im looking for is if you get any sort of newsletter what email is it sent from? I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks
