i've just found out i cant get to see the doctor thats doing me assessment for at least 3/4weeks which means my cm registration is going to have to be put on hold - this is very bad as my mat pay runs out on 6th march so i probably wont get any mindees until may by the time im registered and i've advertised and had meetings with parents etc. Dp is going on at me to find some evening work as we cant afford to pay the bills if im not bringing anything at all in.
so i mentioned setting up as a babysitter until im registered as i know i wouldnt leave my baby/ children with a strange teenager id feel a bit more confident leaving them with another mother that is doing it to get some money until shes a registered childminder (also might bring in future business) but dp says no way because it wont be as much as we need and it might not take off at all and id only get pittance for the hours id put in so he wants me to get a bar job and im just wondering if i was just fooling myself into believing i could actually do this. im feeling like a complete failure, please can someone give me some words of encouragement or tell me to get a reality check!

Try not to be too despondent about things - it's always the way that when you want something to happen, it's bound to take longer.

There's nothing to stop you doing babysitting anyway, even if it doesn't bring in loads of money. My dd gets a higher hourly rate for babysitting than I do for childminding!!

Thanks TP i have decided i will do whatever work i can get for the time being i dont have to start until the beg of march anyway so ill make the most of spending time with just my girls for now.

Im going to ring the dr's sec again today (do you think i should?) as i want to know if she has recieved my paperwork and when my appt will be - even if i do have to wait 4 weeks! at least ill know and can start planning.

my crb came today so at least thats something

im feeling better about things today i think i was just very disapointed that things weren't going the way i had planned and for a moment there i was considering working nights instead but thats not really what i want i want to work with children i want to get messy and see the look on their faces when they achieve something, i really want to do this and i WILL do it!!
Thanks for all your support yesterday everyone.

LOVEMYGIRLS - GLAD TO HEAR YOURE FEELING BETTER. jUST HAVE THE AGENCY, NIGHTS AS A BACKUP IF YOU HAVE A GAP IN MINDEES OR SOMETHING. APOLOGIES FOR CAPITALS.

LoveMyGirls · 14/02/2006 10:03

my appt is on the 13th March so at least i know how long i have to wait now. in the mean time i am applying for care worker jobs which im feeling really positive about because it would be something i could carry on doing even while im childminding (thanks isyhan)

Im pleased you've got your date through. It sounds as though Im in the same boat as you so that's why I decided to do some bank nursing. Anyway they start on my kitchen tomorrow so Im sending in my application (again)on the 1st March and I started my first aid course last night. If you do some bank care assistant then if you have a gap in mindees for any reason you can do a night shift.

Isyhan · 18/02/2006 09:30

Well done. If you need any help please feel free to CAT me as I was a ward sister and matron and could probably give you some helpful tips.

LoveMyGirls · 20/02/2006 09:23

Thanks for the offer to help me isy, im just going to go with the flow i really have no idea what i will be asked but i have a fair idea of what the job will entail, surely it cant be that hard (dont want to sound big headed)
As far i know its just doing a bit of shopping and picking up prescriptions and helping people wash, dress cook and clean etc pretty much all the things i have to do at home anyway except it will be helping older and disabled people and i will recieve training for this so im sure i will be fine (fingers crossed) i dont see how i can prepare for it, im either going to be good at it or not i guess. i just want to get it over with i hate interviews. ill ocme back and let you know how it goes either way.

oh yes sorry. what a nightmare. shes ok about it now though.

LoveMyGirls · 23/02/2006 10:01

good glad to hear that, im dreading when our hamster dies, dd is going to be soooo gutted.

Im really looking forward to getting a phonecall about this job now. dont think it will til friday at the earlist though and dont actually know how im goingt o cope with looking after elderly/ disabled people but i will get trained and im hoping i will be good at it and it will give me helpful experience towards doing childminding. im now thinking of doing both until childminding is going well enough to give me a FT job (im in no rush now though)

Isyhan · 23/02/2006 12:27

ive worked with elderly for a long time. just care for them as you would like to be cared for one day and youll be fine. having the right approach and being a caring person isnt something anyone can teach you. is it a care home you will be working in? its a good idea to keep both things going as long as you dont overdo it.

LoveMyGirls · 01/03/2006 12:40

i got the job i start trining next week!! Grin thanks so so much for the idea x
