Nanny&housekeepers reates? Help needed

Hi All
What would be the rate i should expect to pay for a monday to friday 8 am to 630 pm nanny (expected to do housekeeping as well ) to look after a 6 months old baby? In London
How much tax will i have to pay on top of that?
Can child vouchers be used for that purpose?
Is it worthwhile using agencies, or do they just add a thick layer of fees for both employer and employee?
Any help much appreciated!

Rate will depend on experience area but probably between 9-12 per hour gross (maybe more if more experience).

Mr anchovy has calculator to help with tax costs (you pay extra ni as employer but withhold and pay over Paye/ni on behalf of nanny). Link here link

Agencies are ok but you still need to interview and check refs so if can hunt yourself on Mn, nanny job, net mums, gumtree.

You can use vouchers if nanny is ofsted registered.

And agency fees paid by employer not employee.

Have you checked out the ads in your area to get some feel for salaries? Also 5 day week can sometimes be harder to fill as hours so long - also not all nannies happy to do housekeeping duties .

4 yrs ago with just ds1 when I went back to work ft I paid 475 net per week (don't slay me re gross/net) for 7.30-6 central London. I pay more now as have 3 ds.

Also yes you can use childcare vouchers if your nanny is ofsted registered... Both our nannies registered at our request though it took 6 months.

I found agencies useless as sent me nannies to interview who clearly didn't know the full job spec and I wanted to check references anyhow personally. Found nanny 1 through nannyjob.co.uk and she was with us 21/2 years till went on maternity leave. Nanny 2 was word of mouth and used to work for a friend.
They do all nursery duties but no cleaning. Also happy to wait in for deliveries, pick up groceries etc.
