..about seeing if they have availibility to look after ds? i mean, is calling during the day completely not recommended, or is the evening better?

call anytime, avoid school drop off and pick ups and lunch. If she is busy they can always call you back.

I agree with Babydales - just ask if it's a convenien time to talk about childcare....if it isn't she will take your number and call you back

I would avoid 8-9, 12-1 and 3-4 ish as she says but you could always leave a message

Ditto what babydales has said - I often take a phone number and call later.
