Student loan repayments on PT nanny wage?

I have two part time nanny jobs, one uses Nannytax to operate PAYe for them, the other does it all herself. She doesn't pay my NI as it's under the threshold (though it may go above soon, boss is willing to pay it from my gross wage if it does obviously!) But she received a letter mentioning student loans repayments. This was a few weeks back and I've completely forgotten what it said so will have to double check, but I want to know if I'm supposed to pay repayments on that job's wage? I'm sure I'm not paying it on my other job either, my earnings are only around £14,200 gross a year with both incomes combined so I thought I didn't have too?! I did earn more in the last tax year though.

An employer will only make a student loan deduction if they pay you more than £1,250 at one time (monthly paid) or £288 (weekly paid) which probably doesn't apply. If you earn more than £15,000 overall you should complete a tax return at the end of the year and repayments will be calculated.

Thank you. I don't think I earnt fifteen thousand in the last tax year, I've never earnt that amount! But I did have a job for a few months that would have been eighteen thousand gross had I stayedand they may have deducted then. I don't have my payslips to check, they got lost in one of the moves since then :/

In that case there may be some tax to reclaim: did they give you a P45 which you can locate? Or can you ring them to check - they can't send you another P45 but they can give you a statement with the same information.

You can find out the details of any student loan repayments on the student loan company web site.

They did give me a P45 which I then gave to one of my current employers and kept one half, I believe I still have the half I was supposed to keep.

Unfortunately my SL payments are skewed and very confusing due to me 'stealing' grant money and my uni still claiming fees from the loans company for over a year after I left the course so I'm still trying to sort that hundreds of phone calls and five years later Angry Nobody has a straight answer as to how much I owe them which is part of the reason I've purposely not earnt more than £15,000 a year since then.
