My dd might moving to a pre-school in september which is just for the afternoons. Do you think i would be able to get a childminder just for the mornings and drop off at the pre-school? Do you think she/he could also do some holiday cover as well both for dd (3) and ds(7) ?

Some would do this, some wouldn't. Depends on the drop off time as well. I have this arrangement with my mindee and just charge for 1/2 days. If you're in an area where there are more children than there are childminder places they may be able to ask for a full day rate for that kind of service.
