Im hoping/thinking of running my own creche. There is a building that is next door to where i used to work in a pre-school that hasnt been used for 1 year. Id love to take that & use it as a creche but i have no idea where to start. Heres a few bits about me that might help:

20 years old. Daughter aged 5. NVQ 3 Childcare learning & development qualified. Child Psychology Qualified. Have done previous supervisor & Playworker work.

Thank guys!

You need to look into health and safety, insurance, ratios, risk assessments etc. The legal side of things is more important than your childcare background at this stage, along with a clear business plan.

I think it would be worth before i even make a start to take a management course.

Planning permission may be needed. I think it's D1 use you need, though talk to a local town planning officer and they will be able to tell you all you need to know about planning permission.

How would it be a Crèche rather than a Nursery? It can be tricky to establish what registration is needed. If you are planning on operating all day, and if the parents are not staying on-site (such as would happen at a Gym crèche) then I suggest you look at registering as full daycare.
