Parent with potential tax credits problem?

Hiya,

I posted this in chat but didn't explain myself very well so i will try again!

I've had a parent ask me about tax credits being stopped whilst a joint claim goes through, she knows that her and her DP are entitled to the tax credits but wants to know if they stop the current payments whilst the 'new' claim goes through?

I'd be interested to knowjust incase i need to be prepared for not being paid fully!

They do stop the current claim yes...and it can take weeks until it is sorted out. Tell her to keep telephoning the office every few days just to stay on top of it all...and to keep records of names and all forms.

She might be weeks with no money but they do backpay.
