I was scared of paperwork but now....

I've been taking advantage of a online package and taken the plunge where paperwork is concerned.

I wasn't doing observations and planning but was still taking photos and video. We used to do daily diary's but one parent lost hers and another didn't like them.

Another parent if I didn't write anything in it (because of time) but I had told her what had happened she put a question mark in the book. Which I thought was daft. So I put in the next day anyway.

Now I've started to use this online package which means I don't have to write stuff. The parents love it! (although I have yet to try it on the one who puts question marks in her diary as she is on holiday atm) I just email it to them. It also means they get photos too.

Now I intend to bit by bit work out the rest of photos onto observations etc. I'm much more confident of them now.

As for policies and procedures took the time at the beginning but now they are done they only need updating from time to time.

I don't feel scared anymore of them. I've got a pdf of the eyfs which makes things easier too.

Now things can only get better :)

I've been thinking of doing the months free trial to see if it works for me if it's the same one, invoicing etc would be so much easier.

Good fou you .

I would have given notice to the silly cow with question mark though.

mopbucket · 04/02/2012 17:21

I use the online package babydays and love it, it emails the parents the days diarys with photos and also sorts my 6 areas of learning out for me Grin ofsted loved it when i showed it them

mumo3g · 04/02/2012 18:22

mopbucket does babydays do the attendance register? If so what did Ofsted think of that method or does it have to be in paper form?

Yes they do attendence reg but i dont use it Smile

sillymillysmummy · 05/02/2012 14:18

Oo ladies that use babydays. Can I ask, how long do you spend on updating the system each day?

mopbucket · 05/02/2012 14:22

Well i just write what they have done (then cut and paste this into each childs diary) write a quick observation and upload pics normally takes for 3 children less than 10 mins Smile

CakeMixture · 05/02/2012 14:26

So you can be a childminder without reams and reams of paper? Great idea! How much do the online whatnots cost?
I'd love to be a childminder but all the paperwork etc pus me off (as does taking photos of kids and linking their every move to eyfs

sillymillysmummy · 05/02/2012 14:27

Thanks mop bucket. So how about the eyes linking and planning. When do you do that?

mopbucket · 05/02/2012 15:17

When i write my observation i link it to a area of learning Smile dont really plan on paper just in my head but said to ofsted that as i know where each child in their progress i know how to plan the activity for each child Grin

Babydays cost £10 per month or £100 for a year Smile

mopbucket · 05/02/2012 15:19

Btw also thave a tracker chart for each child where i date when each area of learning has been done so i can see at a glance where i need to go with each child

mumo3g · 05/02/2012 20:12

with Noble minder you write the diary and then push a button to copy it to your observation. Then you can take out the bits you don't need. They are going to be doing the tracker thing soon.

Mopbucket did you print out the obs etc and put them into files for ofsted or did she look at it via your pc?

Same question as mumo3g it would be a bit of a bind to print it all off...

mopbucket · 06/02/2012 12:17

No she looked at them via internet Smile didnt think of printing them off as parents can log in anytime with their own password to look at their childs progress/photos so no reason to print off Grin
