To nanny employers: - any advice on payroll service providers, please?

I am thinking of changing from my current payroll provider, as I would like to go to one of the cheaper providers - my current one charges over £200 p.a., and there seem to be a few that charge around half of that. Any recommendations? I have had great service, so don't want to cause myself stress by changing!

Many thanks in advance!

Katrina

Maybe this is a good opportunity to list all the providers we know. I have no idea though how you could compare each service - one way may be to see how quickly they answer the phone, another way may be on cost, another may be on added services they provider beyond the basic payroll function. Some may charge extra for doing weekly payroll.

Payroll Services:
PAYEforNannies
Taxnanny
NannywageLtd
Nannytax
NannyPAYE
PayMyNanny
Taxingnannies
NannyPayroll
ZestPayroll
NannyMatters
kbaccountancygroup Nannipay

Help for Do It Yourself Payroll:
(Note: If you have agreed a Net wage with your nanny, you may not be able to use these, or may need a higher cost version of the software)

Anyone know of any others... expect these lists are not complete. New payroll providers spring up from time to time.

Hi I was with NannyPaye and had a few problems. They got a few things wrong and it was really difficult to get calls and emails returned.
I moved to TaxNanny, cheaper and excellent service. I deal with them mostly by e-mail (which they prefer) and often get replies to my queries within the hour even at 10pm!
I can't recommend them highly enough.

PAYE for nannies are great. When I used them, they charged £135 for payroll services as well as contract service and advice on contractual issues.

Cannot fault PAYE for nannies.
I too was with the expensive NannyTax for the first year but couldn't face the charge for a second.

We have used PAYEforNannies for 18 months or so, changing nannies after the first year or so - no complaints, they dealt with the change of employee without fuss, would recommend them.

Its really, really not difficult to do it yourself. HMRC are very helpful - the first year they even told me the numbers to fill in each box for the annual return.
I now use the payroll site as you can print off wage slips.

Another vote for PAYE for Nannies. I seem to still be paying £135 per year but think it's £115 for new customers.
