Nanny agencies- what are the good ones in london?

Hi
I have posted before about our previous nanny. My DH was going to quit work to look after our DCs but his company have a 3 month notice period and will enforce it (not sure how but will take us to court over salary apparently)
I only went back to work last sept so a) don't want to leave b) enjoy my job and c) make more money than him. So the only solution is to pay for a nanny agency don't mind doing this (should have done it the last time but couldn't afford it as we both had only started work and had no savings left )

So my question is what good nanny agencies are there in London?
I've spoken to someone at the London nanny company and it all looks good clear about what we are paying for, what they do, after-care etc.
Should I register with more than one agency? as we need someone to start next week yesterday?
Advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Scrummummy,

as a nanny I can recommend Imperial Nannies and Eden Nannies. I am registered with a few other so called "high-end" agencies but they didn't check my references at all thoroughly. They are both quite pricey but worth it.

Maybe it's worth posting on Gumtree.com if you need someone to start asap.

I'm an employer

I really liked Halcyon (formerly Harmony) and found them very hands on. Eden seemed a bit flaky

I'm in west london Buttons, Eden, Ideal and Tigerlillies all get good reviews from the nannies I know; interviewed the nanny, checked refs and CV's etc. I don't know about costing though.

As a nanny I rate Ideal Nannies and Pure Childcare both smaller than some of the bigger known agencies but find the service is great, they know who you are when you ring them and give a very friendly but proffesional service.

I can highly recommend Kensington Nannies, the girls their have worked their absoulute bottoms off the last 2 months for me!!!
I found them extremly thorough, understanding, and incredibly helpful!
