maternity allowance included in tax return?

hi, just filling in my tax forms for accountant(organised as ever!Blush) and was wondering if i had to include maternity allowance and if it counted towards my end of year profit?

No, Maternity Allowance is not taxable.

I had to include smp in mine, but they refunded my 86p tax, it's still income though. then for tax credits they deduct £100 for each week you were on it.

Thinking about it I'm pretty sure one of the questions was how much maternity/paternity pay I had received, give your accountant a call and ask.

SMP is different to Maternity Allowance like MrAnchovy said MA isn't taxable but SMP is!
