Sorry i know this sint childcare related, but plenty of women on here which is what i need!! I have a ring which i just got valued, and it was £1,395. I dont want to keep it and would like to sell it. Obviously i want the best price i can get. Does anyone know where to go? Is there any particuar places well known for good prices? Do they do jewellry auctions? Im in Essex...Dont know how to get the best price???

Would the jeweller be interested in it? Just worth a thought maybe?

If you now know the details about it, ie clarity, size of diamonds, you could try Ebay?

If that was an insurance value, you won't get that if you sell it. Especially not to a jewellers who has to add a mark up to resell.

The value will probably be based on a replacement value for insurance purposes and so they are generally higher than what you would be offered retail. I'm not in Essex, so don't know your area but you could try either a jeweller who buys/sells second hand jewellry and ask if they're interested or, if it is an item of particular interest i.e. an antique then, you could try an auction house, see your local newspaper for auction valuation days, you could always enter it into an auction and put a reserve price against it - be warned though, the auction house will also charge you for selling it.
