Where should I advertise for a nanny?

Is Gumtree dodgy or ok?

Also try Childcare.co.uk - have a paid account so you can message nannies in your area. Log in frequently so any nannies looking can quickly see your profile. Put as much info on profile as you can, especially things like salary range, hours, days etc.

Gumtree is useful in some areas. Spend time writing the ad to make it give as much info as possible - though even then some people may not read it all, so on first contact make sure they meet your minimum requirements and know the salary/salary range.

I have used all 3.
Nannyjob was great. Quality responses rather than quantity.
Gumtree the opposite. Literally hundreds of responses from people who didn't even check they fitted my requirements. Some were even quite scary. I needed a separate email account to manage it and just closed the ad down in the end.
Childcare.co.uk was also fine.
Nannyjob was best in my opinion. And 19.99 for a month.

I just advertised a part-time short term nanny job on gumtree at 10pm last night and I've already had almost 200 replies. Like cherub59 says some of them are quite weird, and many of them are inappropriate for the requirements we've specified. A few look good, but the sifting through is quite time consuming. Haven't tried nannyjob yet, but I'm on childcare.co.uk and that does seem good.
