First time mum here (can you tell) and I'm going to see a local childminder today. I've no idea what I need to ask.

Whats the important main things I need to ask? If ti helps I think she has just started up as a CM so might be as green as me!!

Hello!
Your local council's family information service may have a list of suggested questions on their website. The NCMA are also quite helpful www.ncma.org.uk .

I'm about to start doing the same thing, and I'm feeling decidedly wobbley about having to entrust my PFB to anyone else!

Good luck.

What does the fee include?
What happens during periods of hols/illness on either side?
What else will I need to provide?
Where will baby sleep?
What sort of things do you do/ go with the children?
Do you have any holidays booked?
Do you have a back up CM available if ill/ on holiday?
What other children do yo care for at the same time?
Do you take Childcare vouchers?
Can I see any references?
Can I see you reg. cert/ first aid/ CRB certs?

You'll be fine Smile

nicknacks covered most of it.

Settling in - does she offer free shorter sessions and how many?

Go with you gut as well - if everything checks out on paper and she gives the right answers but you simply don't like her then don't go with her.

Thank you! I liked her. I think we covered most of what's up there. I have her pack to go through. so can ask anything I've missed once I've read that. she was really good with ds he even fell asleep in her arms which he never does with me.

She has agreed to take him for an afternoon next week and a morning the week after. and we'll take it from there.
