....Im really, really bad at it.

Does anyone have any tips to get me on the straight and narrow? Do you have a routine for keeping yours updated, every day, every week or what?

Will admit to doing mine on a daily basis, otherwise it becomes to much and I forget who paid me what, what I've paid out etc etc.

Thats what I must do

Im dreading ofsted inspection and tax return as Ive been so very lax with keeping receipts, noting expenses down that I wont be able to claim

Still waiting for DH to do my tax return, it needs to be in for end of January-he'll have to get his finger out!

HellyBelly · 05/01/2006 14:04

Wouldn't worry about expenses for ofsted inspection as I don't think they'll look at that, doesn't affect the care of the little ones (well, they didn't look at mine - the piles of receipts )

As for Tax Returns, if I started minding in July, when do you think I'll need to do my first one? (sorry to hijack!)

Icemum · 05/01/2006 14:12

Hellybelly I think you should return your first one in January 2007 although I may be wrong.

This is the first time I've had to complete a tax return and I starte minding in August 04. Mind you I had to really chase the inland revenue to send the tax return in the first place.

lunavix · 05/01/2006 14:14

helly, I started in april 05, so I don't think we have to do one till next year.

pecka - I haven't done most of my accounts either I'm perfectly up to date with payments, attendance etc.. but it's my expenses. I had a fuffle with it (claiming expenses for minding but pre-minding) and I'm still not entirely sure about whether I can claim it lol! And I just got further and further behind...

I have a very very large filing cabinet to house all my paperwork. It's called my house.

My tax return ends up being done last minute. The receipts will all be in my filing cabinet.

PMSL at your filing cabinet!
