Does anyone here use an accountant for their accounts? I really can't be arsed have so much to do, I use paper for everything as am rubbish at computers I have muddled through for many years, but know I must be missing stuff (i.e. didn't realise I could claim a percentage of household insurance) so am wondering if it might be financially wise to get someone to look at it who knows what they are doing.

Oh and how much does it cost? TIA

Hiya
I dont know how much an accountant costs, but a tip is. If you contact hmrc, they have a little booklet for childminders which tells you what you can claim, deductions etc.
Goodluck.

this makes it easy to do it yourself www.childsplayaccounts.co.uk/

There was a guy advertised in Who Minds who charged around £69 but you have to send everything in the post so I've never used him. Don't know if he's still running, can't find an active link.

I know childminders who've paid around 180-£300 for their accounts to be done.

Hi. I had a lady viist me from the tax office (requested the visit). She did not think you need an accountant unless you have a big business.

I am busy with 7 cm kids and 4 of my own. I have done it myself, it does take time but its possible.

Doing tax return for childminders is quite useful.
