Childminders: How flexible would you be prepared to be about notice period?

I'm asking for advice as I don't want to cause offence. My CM and I have agreed mutually that DS won't be going there beyond the end of this month, I have paid up until this. I have found another CM who can take him from now. He knows her and is happy to go there, whereas he just does NOT want to go the original one any more. I do realise that the notice period we agreed on was til the end of the month but I want to ask her if she would be flexible. Would you be happy to do a refund if a child you really wanted to go (and it was her that first brought of the subject of him not going there any more) could go sooner?

You could ask, but if she is happy to provide care and cannot get someone else to take the space, then you might not get a refund.

If she would like your DS to leave asap, then she might be happy to terminate the contract immediately and refund your money.

Ask and see what she says.

Oh ... and I would not give a refund, but then I have not been in the position you seem to be in.

Yes you could ask but I would expect her answer to be no. If she manages to fill your childs place (assuming you move now) then you could ask her to refund the weeks you have paid for as the place is not available anymore.

if i had agreed that the end of the month you would be leaving and you made the decision to leave before then there is no way i would refund the money.

If for instance i was desperate for the child to go i may agree a partial refund.

how long has your son been with this cm?
