S'OK we all understand.....some are lovely and some are beasts

My favorite from last week was

Me: You child has a temp of 39
Parent: well you better give her some calpol then
Me: I think I'll sponge her down with a damp cloth
Parent: Do you think that will help?
Me: shall I ring you in half an hour to see if it's gone down
Parent: That would be nice

So I'll join you in an aaaaagh!

What has yours done?

just been told that i'm so hard to get hold off, and so rude for not calling back! only one missed call on my mobile and i knew she was ringing but was driving with mindees in the car so couldn't answer. so i called her back when all the kids had gone and she says i'm so rude as i never answer phone! that was the first she had called as there has been someone in the house all day and they said no phone calls although she said she had and rang my mobile this am. i rarely stay in the house all day.....we're always out!! sorry so long.

And my favourite for the past three months has been a parent who outstays her welcome - yes really - I don't mean that she stays when she collects mindee for the usual 15 mins or so to hear feedback but stays generally for 1 - 1.5 hours chatting about all sorts - two weeks ago she started to phone me during the day when I have her child and another mindee but not just once, three times a day - I wouldn't mind so much if it was because she was worried or concerned about her child but it is just for a chat. You wouldn't believe that I actually had to get the hoover out one evening when she came to collect mindee and literally hoovered around her - she still didn't leave - in the end I had to be quite frank with her in a nice way of course but she still phones now but I ignore 2 of the three calls as it deprives the mindees of my attention - I feel awful about doing that but what else can I do - Aaaargh!!

omg Tan, you must have the patience of a saint!

Tan1959 · 05/12/2005 23:19

Yep I guess I must have - believe me it had caused me quite alot of stress in one way or another!

The mum of one of my mindees lit up a cig in my kichen yesterday,

I said to her "you'll have to go outside"
she said "why"
Me "I don't let people smoke while I've got mindees here"
Her "They're my kids"
Me "It's my house and nobody smokes in it"

I couldn't believe it she got really cross cos it was raining and she didn't want to go outside. I send everyone outside when they want a cig even my dp and it's his house aswell.

That's my aaaargh out of the way

I hate it when the parents try to tell you how to do your job! Really annoys me!
