What do you pay a 17 year old babysitter?

We have 2 children age 4 and 12 and have found a very friendly teenager to babysit for a couple of hours every couple of weeks. What should we pay her? Our last babysitter charged £30 (plus travel) for 3ish hours which meant we only had enough money left to go to Mc Donalds!! What is the current acceptable babysitting rate? Happy to be reasonably generous.

Depends where you live really. We're in london and our babysitter (who is 30 and works in childcare so pretty experienced) charges £7.50 a an hour. We usually pay the cab fare home too (£5).

we pay our neighbour (18) £20 for up to 4 hours evening babysitting. My children are 7, 10 and 12.

My 16 year old dd gets £5 per hour and I think thats fair.

I pay £5 p.h for a qualified CRB checked babysitter who drives herself. But we are proper rural so this may not be a good barometer

I charge seven pounds my daughter who is 18 charges six.

I pay £5/6 per hour to teenagers and au pairs. Nannies charge more (£7-£12 per hour). So I use the teens!

I pay 5 pounds per hour to the nursery staff who have babysat for me occasionally and round it up rather than down.

Also tell them to help themselves to food and drink of course.

We paid £5/hour to our 16 year old babysitter.

I pay ours £3 per hour as that's what she charges but end up giving her more as she is so lovely.

Depends where you live, in London I was paying £8 for a 15 yr old, 5 years ago.
