Childminders Club: First call from website oooerrrrrrr

I have been registered a little while yet but my two mindees are already known to me through friends so didnt have any nervous interaction with strangers until today when my phone rang!

It was a lady who found me through my website looking for one day a week for her 20 month old little girl.

Now, the thing is I felt totally unprepared and nervous! I almost talked her out of wanting me to avoid her coming to see me which is totally ridiculous I know but I had a sudden crisis of confidence.

I have a space on the day that she needs but didnt really pursue it or set a date for interview.

She asked how it worked and I told her to ring around, do some research on who has availibility then have a shortlist of people to see. Make appointments to come and see the setting, the minders etc so that she could get a feel for how we would get on and then if she wanted the space we could arrange settling in periods and contracts etc

I told her that Im not looking after many at the moment so feel that I can offer a service for people looking for almost one to one care - she seemed really pleased with that.

Overall I think she was very impressed and thanked me for my help and said she will be in touch but should I have been more forthright in getting an appointment booked etc?

I just panicked and thought omg house is messy need to bottom it before someone new comes round lol

So....whats the bets? Will she ring back?

Congrats on first web enquiry!

Can you do 1471 to get her phone number so you have it should you decide you want to call her?

I would always suggest asking for a telephone number, even if you don't have a space (our availability can change pretty quickly sometimes so you never know!) I also tend to suggest that people can come round just for an informal chat, even if it's just to get a bit more information about "how childminding works". Hopefully, they will be that impressed that they'll want you anyway.

Well done for your first enquiry anyway, hopefully she will ring back.
