I'm not sure whether this is the right forum for my message, but I've had no replies in the Hereford one, so I'm giving it a go!

We're going to a friend's wedding in Hereford on the 23rd of July and need a babysitter for our DDs aged 10 months and 2 years, ideally that afternoon and evening, but at the very least for the evening.

Does anyone know of anyone? I've googled, of course, but have come up mostly with national agencies. Does anyone have any experience of using these?

Thanks for your time.

We have used Sitters, including when away staying in hotels. All good experiences so far.

Have you tried looking on Childcare.co.uk (link goes to a 10 mile radius search of Hereford, HR1 - you can search for free, then become a member for a short period (repeat billing is used, so cancel membership after you have found someone). You could enter the full postcode of the venue of your friends wedding to search for people within a few miles of that venue.

You could conduct interviews by e-mail and phone, then arrange to meet up with them when you are in the area. You will find that there are nannies and childminders who are offering babysitting, so you may find that some of those might be able to do evening of Sat 23rd and possibly afternoon depending on their own commitments.

Thank you, FannyPriceless and nannynick (what brilliant names!). I'll look at both of those websites and hopefully we'll be able to enjoy at least some child-free time at our friend's wedding!
