I have been looking after these 2 little girls for 3 months, I know their mum and I have been looking after her dd1 until she went to ml to have her dd2. I didnt think and I gave her a massive discount, almost 1 full fee and the other full fee-80%. I can no longer afford to do do that so I have decided to increase my prices starting from september.I'm going to notified it to her next week.

Have you ever been in my situation ?

3 months notice of intention to review and increase prices is fine

however a 20% jump might be hard for the parent, could you stagger it so that you 'catch up' say by April?

moogster1a · 08/06/2011 16:31

is that 80% off or do they pay 80% of the full price? if it's 80% off I'm sure she'll realise you can't sustain such a huge discount

childinjoy · 08/06/2011 16:40

they pay a little bit under that 80% of the full price.

You've been lovely to give her a discount up to now. She will have saved a lot of money thanks to your good nature.

ElizabethDarcy · 08/06/2011 22:20

Just be frank with her, and let her know you cannot hold that discount any more.

if shes a true friend she will understand..and be grateful that she has had such a good deal so far.. dont feel bad..

my tip though.. never mind for friends,, business is business.. friends are friends.. dont mix the two

NEVER give discounts for friends. It always ends in tears Sad
