Mindee with suspected broken finger

Hi,

On his way to me, my mindee had a fall and he hurt his little finger. I did everything that needed to be done, I gave him some nurofen to calm the pain, put him in confortable position with his little finger on a first aid bag of ice.

The little one is still in pain, cant bend his finger and the little finger is slightly out of shape. What else can I do ?

The parents dont think it is too bad and that the child is only going to get a bruise.

So I'm asking what should I do next ?

Thank you for your help !

If your policy is to call the parents and get them to pick their child up, then do that. Not much will be done for a broken finger but it is the parents' responsibility to deal with it.

If the finger is out of shape, I would be calling the parents to go for an x ray

And note that you've called them and what they say, then get them to sign it when they come for him.

The hospital might strap it up and give painkillers at best, but at least you can be confident that you have done everything you need to do.

I agree call parents and suggest he goes to hospital

i have broken 2 fingers twice (so 4 separate finger brakes) in my time.... each very painful, but all they have ever done is strap fingers together & they have healed quickly.
