Hi all i'm new to this site, so hope this right place for this...

I live in South Croydon and i'm looking for an Ofstead registered childcarer who can look after my son in my home Mon-Fri 5-9.30pm or 3.10-9.20pm.

He will need to be collected from school or after school club, given precooked meal, supervised with his homework and bedtime.

All genuine replies or suggestions welcome.

Many thanks

I would suggest that you post on your local Netmums Childcare Board, perhaps put an ad on Gumtree.com and also on Childcare.co.uk (free to put an ad, costs to contact people), Nannyjob.co.uk

Whilst a few nannies might look on Mumsnet for work, I don't feel it's a primary place nannies will look. Mumsnet is more a place for discussion of various topics in my view. These days NannyJob, Childcare.co.uk and Gumtree seem to be the popular online places to look for nanny work.

We have a special message thread where nannies add themselves if they are looking for work... Nannies Looking For Work. Alas last time Croydon is mentioned on that list was back in 2008.

Not sure how many applicants you would get for your job given the hours of work you are needing. It might appeal to a nanny with own child, though the late finish time might make it unappealing.

Might suit a pre-school worker, so someone who is working during the morning at a pre-school. They may also meet most of the conditions for Ofsted Registration thus may be able to become registered, though it would take several months.

Why Ofsted Registered? This sort of thing might suit a student who is at college during the day... they are unlikely to be Ofsted Registered though.

Good luck with your hunt for an after-school nanny.

As nanny nick says this may suit a student who wouldnt be ofsted registered but would be cheaper than a qualified nanny anyhow.

There are the websites nannynick has mentioned and then there are findasitter and findababysitter also.
