Am I being thick? Why can't I find cm info?

It used to be so easy - you'd just go to the Family Information Service website and all the local cms' details were searchable on one site. Now it seems the Coalition has closed down the website and when I follow the links which should take me to the new site I end up going round in circles. Gaaahh!

How can I find out which cms are in my area?

Hmm...just clicked on the banner ad above - presumably this is the new incarnation of the former FIS - a private company taking over the running of the service.

The national system has been closed. Information is now held by each local authority (or county council). Different councils have come up with different ways of providing the information.

For example in Surrey, we have Parent Know How Family Service Directory

Nope, Childcare.co.uk has been around a few years now. However I do wonder if the closure of the ChildcareLink.gov.uk has resulted in them getting more visitors.

Thanks nannynick. Our local authority clearly haven't bothered to actually provide the information, just an annoying circle of links Hmm.

You can phone family information service and they'll post you a list of local childminders.
