Au Pairs and English language course

Please, i need some advice regarding english courses for au pairs. I have been speaking to some possible Au pairs on AU world and i am now looking into English language courses around where I live in Hertfordshire.

Does anyone know colleges around Herts, Ware, Broxbourne or even Harlow where my au pair could study and any idea what these course cost?

Your best bet is to google your local/county council & 'adult education' to find the 'public' courses. In our local authority the courses are sometimes free, sometimes up to £250 for 6 month courses (depending on AP's level of English to start with), they are always miles cheaper than private colleges.

Thank you , StillSquiffy. I will do just that.
The Hertford Regional college in Broxbourne told me it could cost at least £450 and they were not even sure what the fee will by spetember!

If that is a full year course you won't find much cheaper I suspect.

We pay 160 per term (10 weeks) at the local further education college. Our last three au pairs have gone there and loved it. The exams are extra, but the standard of teaching is reasonably high and the socialising is good.

I second the FE college courses. All our au pairs have been on them and loved them. Plus they get to make friends from all over the world so it's excellent for their world view too.

PS: £175/semester here, £50 refundable for excellent attendance.

My AP goes to Oaklands College in St.Albans, it is about £160 per term.
If Southgate college is not too far it is about the same and you can join the course at any time.
