Have you been in situation ? I have been working flat out all april. I have 2 new little girls starting on monday (sisters) but I couldnt give them a lot of settling, the mum is really not happy with me. What should I do next time ? I couldn't go over my numbers.

Surely you choose a start date based on when you can have completed a sensible settling in time?

ChitChattingagain · 04/05/2011 12:26

If you couldn't, then you couldn't. Mother still chose you so either you were the best for the job or she didn't have much choice. (If she gets arsey about it you could always tell her that they could start properly the following week instead and have settling in next week?! Doubt she'd want that!!!)

Oh and I'm speaking as a mother here, not as a CM.

I would also have thought that as there are 2 of them they will settle easier than a single child - they have each other for support. Other than that, not a clue, sorry!!!

The thing is the place is only available this week for next week, I mean 2 mindees live, 2 new arrive. I have 3 mindees everyday plus my 2, I only offered 4 hours settling settling because one of my mindee was absent. Then last week I could but the little girls were not well.
Thank you for your answers.

I thought there was some leeway wrt numbers when it came to settling in sessions...

BradfordMum · 04/05/2011 13:36

Sometimes we get enquiries at short notice Sarkylady.
Some kiddies need very little settling in sessions.

Every child is different.

I invited a mum to join me at some toddler sessions as I couldn't do settling sessions, worked out really well, we got to know each other and she got to see me working.

childminderindistress · 04/05/2011 16:47

Well I have done that a loads of time but it doesnt seem to matter, she stressed and I'm stressed now.

ah well, never mind, if there's not time for settling you can't conjure it out of thin air

chin up and battle on, yes?
