About 3 weeks ago I had a call from a lady wanting to know if she could come and see me about childminding her child. Fine I said, we arranged a date on 20th April, I tidied all the house and got all my file, contracts etc out and waited.... and waited, 7pm came and went. I was angry and upset as this had been the first call for a while (too many childminders vieing for business in my area) and she didn't bother to come or even ring up to apologise the day after.

Do people think we do nothing after work? No, we write up paperwork after getting the family's tea and do any other chores before relaxing. I really hope i get someone full-time soon.

I have learned to accept this now. I always try and get a mobile number, or at least an email when they book an appointment and then I send a polite 'just to confirm our meeting ....' message on the day. This does prompt some people to say they're not coming, but I have spent several valuable evenings and weekends waiting for people who don't turn up.

Hope you let her know that evening how put out you'd been!

This happened to me a couple of weeks back - its just bloody rude.

I dont get why people are so rude, as that what it is, just plain rude!! lol

Hope you're okay and get loads more phone calls (from lovely parents who show up lol) x

Sadly no phone calls since. I asked her for her phone number but she said she didn't like giving it to strangers! Confused How did she expect me to ring to let her know if something came up on the day?

Its very quiet around here in Tameside, Greater Manchester, really hope I get someone full-time to make it worthwhile. Minding one child is not paying.

I have the feeling I am going to have a no show this week. Just a feeling and hope I'm wrong but have tried to make contact to confirm but to no avail.
