ask her what she is happy with.

It depends where you are, but i always got £10/ hour nannying, but was happ with £8/ hour for babysitting.

personally i wouldnt nanny for £8 gross an hour (unless i was bringing my baby along)

Thanks. And she is (bringing her child that is).

i get paid the same whether working daytime or babysitting in evening

it is still my time :)

Jacksterbear · 30/04/2011 18:30

Thanks. I suppose the rationale for paying less would be that if the children are in bed, the nanny is just sitting on the sofa not interacting with them. But I think actually I will put the same rate for babysitting as for the rest of the time.

I also get the same for babysitting as for working.
Hi Blondes great to see you back on here ,a big hug for you.

PaulaMummyKnowsBest · 30/04/2011 20:56

do you get the same pay or less if you work overtime?

eurycantha · 30/04/2011 21:22

I get the same £8 an hour.

gruber · 30/04/2011 22:25

I also get the same. It's still my time, often at the end of a regular working day.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/05/2011 00:11

thanks eurycantha

i have to try and get back to normal :(

whatever that is

I might be wrong but i see babysitting as extra service provided on freelance basis therefore i would ask her what she charges.

Artichokes · 02/05/2011 16:47

I pay our nanny £10 ph for work and £8 ph for babysitting. She originally said the babysitting rate wld be £10 too, which I was fine with but it meant I never used her as I could get cheaper sitters, she then asked why I never used her in the eves but used her mates, I explained, she cut her rate. Why not ask your new nanny?

LCarbury · 02/05/2011 20:17

We pay our nanny the same for babysitting, but whereas a normal babysitter just watches your TV and eats the biscuits you leave while the children are asleep, our nanny carries out nursery duties in the same way as she would in the day e.g. doing the children's laundry, emptying the nappy bin, and tidying up toys.

I pay more for overtime - that includes babysitting.
