My gorgeous baby twin boys are looking for a lovely nanny from mid June. So difficult to find someone with experience and who has the right references and checks. Living in SW19.Looking for someone with at least 5yrs experience and naturally fluent English speaking. Full day 8am to 6.30 Mon/tues/Thurs/Fri. Any ideas?

4 days weeks are popular, but a split in the middle isn't ideal.

Where are you looking at the moment?

I recommend
your local Netmums childcare board
www.childcare.co.uk
www.nannyjob.co.uk
Gumtree

What do you consider to be 'the right references and checks'?
Are you being clear enough in your advert (feel free to link to it) about the kind of person you want and what the job involves?
Are you offering good terms and conditions and a competitive salary?

Hello

Would def use nannyjob, netmums, childcare.co.uk and gumtree although be prepared to filter out the rubbish - inc junk emails offering stuff for sale, spam etc and also inappropriate applications such as au-pairs applying.

You will need to be paying a very good salary for a nanny with that much experience inc twin experience and for your area and would need to pay £10-£12 an hr gross - have you considered a nanny who has baby experience plus caring for a sibling close in age rather than just someone with twin experience then at interview you can ask them how they would manage twins and the development etc.

Right reference checks I would expect to be able to follow up on 2 references even if given written ones would want to ring and speak to previous employers.

other checks would want to see certificates and if need be ring the exam board to check they are real - if this is what you feel would be neccesary. To see ID for proof of who they are so a photo card driving liscence or passport is a good idea and a recent CRB check also.

good luck
