How honest should I be in giving notice?

I'm thinking I probably shouldn't say 'Sorry I can't have your children any more they are rude, disrespectful, trash my house and annoy the hell out of me'.

Do I have to give a reason? Is it ok to lie?!

Due to a change of my circumstances I need to terminate our contract. I am giving you four weeks notice as per our contract. Our last working day will be xxxxxx I wish you luck in your future childcare. For alternative childcare you can contact the family information service on xxxxxxxxxxxx who will hold a list of registered childminders.

Don't put things down in writing to someone unless you are prepared for it to come back and bite you on the bum at some point.
