Am i correct in thinking that you do not need to be registered with OFSTED to care for over8's? or have I dreamt that

That's correct. The register is Voluntary but you'd need to be registered in order to accept vouchers and for the parent to be able to claim tax credits.

I thought so. I personally think that people should be registered for children of all ages - if someone doesn't need to be regsitered then surely they aren't CRB checked either and don't have to have insurance?

It's not for me BTW, was just wonderingGrin.

I start with my new full time (well 7 hours a day) baby in a couple of weeks Grin

Correct on both counts although anyone who cares for children without insurance is a fool IMO. Not matter how nice the parents are/close your relationship is a child can sue until they're 21 and the way society is going I wouldn't risk it.
