For my course work??

I wondered about:
1 Stay Safe - Developing the safety of the children
2 Be Healthy - Developing the health of the children
3 Enjoy & Achieve - Increasing the enjoyment and achievement of the children
4 Make a positive contribution - Enabling the children to make a positive contribution
5 Achieve Economic Wellbeing - ???

Or is that daft?

5 for you as a proprietor Grin

nannynick · 19/03/2011 19:26

And the local community - as if you didn't provide childcare, parents couldn't go to work, so local community economy would suffer.

No 5- Providing early intervention for children so that they can achieve success at school and not fall into the povery trap as adults, thus breaking the cycle of deprivation.

Gosh, a bit heavy for a Sunday morning Grin
What you have said sounds good to me.
So, you are looking at your main busines activities as
childcare
marketing
Is that right?
And you need at least 3 more?

KatyMac · 20/03/2011 08:40

Well I was then I wondered if my main areas were the 5 ECM?

OP posts:
purepurple · 20/03/2011 08:48

Making sure that your children meet the ECM outcomes is your main business activity, I suppose.
I can see where you are going with this one now.
With the change in government and the spending cuts you will have lots of threats to your business, so plenty to write about there.

KatyMac · 20/03/2011 08:58

Maybe but stay safe is about HASAW & Food hygiene regs

& be healthy is about making up bottles & food hygiene & HASAW

or is that daft?

OP posts:
purepurple · 20/03/2011 09:08

No, not daft.
Being safe is also about safeguarding too. There are plenty of threats there.
Changes to CRB and the vetting and barring scheme.
Use of mobiles and cameras by you, staff and visitors and while you are out and about.
Being healthy is also about healthy eating and stopping the rise in obesity.
The cuts to local services will affect all of the outcomes of ECM.

KatyMac · 20/03/2011 09:15

E & A is about education

But +ve contribution is that more about social mores equal ops?

& economic is that about birth rates & reducing CB & WTC??

OP posts:
purepurple · 20/03/2011 09:38

Yes, CB and WCT cuts will affect your business, if numbers fall because parents can't afford to use a childminder. It will be cheaper for them to stay at home. But that will have a knock-on effect if children are not receiving the early support that is crucial to achieve the aims of ECM.
Making a positive contribution is about inclusion, yes, and being valued as a member of society.
Including children in your setting who have additional needs is possible because you have the training, resources and support from local services to do so. What would happen if services such as the area senco, children's centres, hvs, etc were to withdraw their support. That would affect your ability to enable children to make a positive contribution.

Massively massively confusing
