it seems like lots of people just put down every possible region and county. For a temporary, live-out position, surely they could not be willing to go anywhere from Cornwall to Scotland??

It makes it a little hard to narrow it down. But I am looking for a live in temp maternity nanny, so perhaps they are more willing to travel then?

Seriously thinking of an agency, who will be able to get to the bottom of everything more quickly than me trawling.

I found that too, I did tend to focus more on the people who narrowed it down for a bit. How temp is temporary? It might be that someone is prepared to move across the country for a few weeks if it's really short term.

I found agency fees so horrifyingly high I didn't bother them (£1000+ for a nanny)

Post your own add - its only about £30 and you can specify exactly who you need, for how long etc.

Have you tried childcare.co.uk? It wwill give you all the nannies in a 15, or you can choose 20 on advanced search, mile radius.

When I look for temp work I would be quite happy to work the length if the country so long as a) it's live in and b) the job interests me. Would rather temporarily locate than take a position in my immediate area that I wouldn't enjoy as much.

Plus maternity nanny jobs are harder to come by- so don't be put off too much

drinkyourmilk · 19/03/2011 08:23

Doh! Relocate- not locate

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 19/03/2011 08:49

I would also go anywhere for temp live in and especially for maternity, including internationally. I have bunked with friends for temp live out as well for a short time.

CharlieCoCo · 19/03/2011 23:14
