I have some parents who are interested in my services as cm (have just started out) and because of the age of my oldest and their oldest, I can't take them on until Sept when they both go to school and we both have a younger child too.

They would start using me from May if they could but obviously need to wait. I don't want to charge a retainer for that time as they will be paying for a temp cm while waiting for me. Just wondered if there was any other way to confirm the places so their are accountable when keeping their side of the agreement, sort of like a pre-contract contract. Maybe a silly question but am working all the other enquires around this family and want to feel secure about it. Any ideas????

I would have thought that you would take a deposit which would come off he first months invoice.

I agree with nbee84

You couldn't take a retainer for a space you haven't actually got available.
The only way to get the commitment is to ask for a deposit which would be non refundable if they change their mind.
