Childcare in Palmers Green, N13

I will be going back to work in January 2006, are there any childminders or can anyone recommend anyone in Palmers Green, N13? Will probably be for two days per week, possibly Thursday and Friday.(My baby will be six months old by then)
And, is it better to have a childminder rather than a nursery?
Any thoughts please as I'm starting to get worried about the whole childcare thing.

Hi JillM,
If you are looking at childcare for January I would start looking ASAP!
In my experience I would say that home based childcare is better for such a young child. I have worked in a nursey myself and honestly believe that it is not the best environment for a baby. This is of course only my opinion - I'm sure others may feel differently.
I have experienced both sides however - I used to work in a nursery and am now a childminder (I'm in N17 - a bit too far for you I think).
Good luck with your search - my advice would be to see as many childminders (or whatever you choose) as possible until you find the one that best suits your family's, and most importantly, your childs' needs - and that has a vacancy of course

Thanks for the advice! I suppose I'm just feeling very nervous (as is most parents in the same position) about leaving my baby with someone. I was going to go for a nursery, but I think I will now be going in the direction of a childminder.
