Help needed for ski holiday - free skiing!

We are going skiing in France soon and my mum was meant to be coming with us to take the 6yo ds off our hands in the afternoon. She did this last year and it worked a treat. Unfortunately my dad is making a slower recovery from heart surgery than expected, and she feels unsafe to leave him for a week. We are looking for someone who would love to come for the fun: Free skiing (all morning plus if wanted end of day if we are tired and come back early, which we are likely to some days as dd (11) will be with us) plus travel, board and lodging paid...but do you think we would need to offer pay as well? We can't! I have scraped and saved to afford this hol on a budget - my mum has offered to pay lift pass and transfer plane ticket if we can find someone, but can't do any more.
Any ideas/offers?

I think thats a great offer but is there no childcare available fo the afternoon? We put our 5 year old into a kids club in the afternoon this year and he absolutely loved it.

Can't afford any more expenses, it's not a resort that has a kids' club (we have arranged it all separately ourselves to keep costs low - appartment hire, ferry, etc) and would feel rotten putting him into a creche when he is already spending the a.m. in ski school. I know there is not usually much English spoken in the creche in the village. Also it is down in the village, not up on the mountain so would take us about an hour round trip to deposit him there after skischool and I know he would be unhappy to go. I would like him to be able to just chill at the appartment, have a nap, be taken to the playground etc til we get back.

I know someone who may be interested but it would depend on dates & being able to arrange flights (she is a teacher currently living in Cost Del Sol, Spain. She is British not Spanish).

Grabaspoon · 02/03/2011 17:12

What are the dates :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/03/2011 17:15

blondes cant stand the snow Grin

sounds a good deal for someone who enjoys skiing, tho a little wage would be nice

hope your dad makes a speedy recovery

I would do this (except for being on the other sudd if the world and pregnant!). I reckon someone who has holiday from their regular job and would love to go skiing but can't afford to would probably be happy with this. They may not be hugely experienced though...

MadreInglese · 02/03/2011 17:26

can't you claim on travel insurance for the cost of your mum's ticket etc if she's your dad's sole carer after his surgery?

halfcaff · 02/03/2011 17:29

Complicated as I bought her ticket (she not very internet-savvy!) and we have separate insurance. Anyway that was only about £100 return with Easyjet which she will pay - it's more the childcare we're looking for.

navyeyelasH · 02/03/2011 18:18

I would do this too depending on dates and I'm sure some friends would too.
