mothers helper

I'm not from the UK so trying to figure out what help I need. I think it's a mother's helper, but what sort of duties is it reasonable to expect one to do? I have a 14 mo old and one on the way. Thanks

Housework mainly, bit of cooking, bit of keeping a child entertained.

Probably better to say what you are wanting someone to do, that may then help identify if you are wanting someone to help with childcare or housework.
