My daughter is 14 months old - Since an early age I have been looking for a family to share a nanny. One month a found a great family -the next month found a fab nanny. It has never really come together. I have just found this website -can't believe it after all this time. I have also subscribed to share nanny.co.uk. I do work five days a week so I supposed I am forgiven for being not with it. The other option was to find a child minder - Though finding a good, warm, active child minder with a clean home seems quite impossible - so my daughter has been attending nursery. I am now finding this is not the right solution. If anyone knows of anything or anyone, I would so grateful if you got in touch. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Hi Uwila

I am based from home and Weybridge, DH works in Central London.

The only nursery we liked in the area was too new and only had very young children, and DS would not find it stimulating.

We wouldn't mind to transition DS from nursery to a childminder as he will start school next year and we will have to find somebody anyway by then - so it would be good for him to get used to it.

Is your nanny coming to your house or do you drop yours off?

Who can I contact to have a list of childminders in the area, even though in my opinion it would be great to have somebody recommended to me.

thanks in advance...

She actually lives with us.

For childminders, I'd look at www.childcarelink.gov.uk (or something similar). You can ppunch in your post code and search for childminders. You might be able to find one who will do the school run. I do actually know one I really like but she is in Sunbury, so not very close to you.

Quipercaso

You can find the childminders available listed on this website

However as you have seen the standards are variable, though it is possible to find a good one. One thing to bear in mind is that the good ones are often busy/full - Mine was not but she was very new and had only been doing it a year. I took the view that I liked her and was willing to use her even if she wasn't as experienced as others. I think some parents preferred the experience so she found it harder to fill her spaces as quickly as others.

If you still want to go the nursery route there is one called Lilliput in Walton/Hersham (not too far from Weybridge though not exctly close I know) which a couple of my friends have used, though you may have already looked at that one and not liked it.
here

It is a big nursery so for an older child there would definitely be loads to do. They have their own garden and it is based in an old school so there is loads of space.

Sorry I can't help with the nanny though.

thanks Lazycow and Uwila for the recommendations.

I will look at the website.

However, we are looking for a chilminder/nanny share in Surbiton, as I work from home it makes sense she is close to where we live. Ditto for the nursery, we are looking at Surbiton/Kingston (Surbiton border) only at the moment.
