another mum from school was telling me today that sometimes she is having to bring her ds(5) to work with her (she runs a cafe) as her DH's work is mainly from home but sometimes he needs to be away at meetings. i told her never to be stuck and that i am always here to help out if she needs me to have him after school (same class as my ds). it would be from 2pm til i suppose 6 ish but i wouldn't be taking any money for it and i told her that when i become registered (hopefully in teh next few months) i wont be able to do it if it puts me over my numbers. she said that was great and if she is ever stuck she will give me a shout.

is this ok for me to do? it isn't breaking any rules or anything?

Of course it is, you are allowed to look after your friends children.

It's only the 'for gain' bit that gets a bit muddled - but clearly here there is 'no gain' so 'no issue'.

thank you. it was my impending registration that was worrying me, whether i was doing anything wrong.

Registered or not, your DS is still allowed friends over so long as you are under your quota.

that's good to know. i was under the impression it would be allowed while i was working.

There is no problem with you looking after your friends? little-ones as long as you are not getting paid for it. With money brings regulations!

It's a shame we are all so worried about the endless red-tape these days... but unfortunately they'll always be someone who wants to do good and put you straight!

Good luck with your impending registration! Smile
