I have 2 questions.

  1. Can you register while being treated for depression ?? I am currently on AD's

  2. What happens if one of your own dc has a hospital appointment ?? Both dd's are currently under hospitals and have appointments about one every month to two months, and dd1 will more than likely need surgery in the future.

Just to explain further about the depression. I am currently signed off work with depression, but the main part of my depression is being caused by my job and struggling with childcare etc, hence wanting to register as a childminder so that I can also be around for my own kids.

  1. You will complete a health declaration as part of the process and the health team will look at it and make a decision. Being treated for depression does not automatically exclude you.

Some message threads from 2010 that may be useful to read:

  1. You inform the parents of minded children as far in advance as possible. If you can, find local childminders who could take the child for the day. You don't earn money those days.

If your job is a contributory factor to your depression, why don't you leave your job?
I'm thinking that the answer to that is because you need to work for the income... which is a potential problem as becoming a childminder could mean you are not getting any income for 6 months maybe longer. Being registered as a childminder does not guarantee you will get any work. It can take time to build things up initially. Consider your finances, can you afford to give up work and risk not having income for a while?
