My friend is doing adhoc/ regular babysitting for some of the mums at her dd's school. They get someone they know and trust she earns some pin money. She's thinking of taking it a stage further and getting some business cards made up and promoting herself through word of mouth and via the village mag for babysitting and short term childcare Do you think she needs to be crb checked or anything else(she was once but it expired). When does babysitting turn into childare?

Babysitting is 6pm to 2am in terms of childcare legislation.
2am to 6pm would be nannying, which is unregulated.
This assumes the care is provided in the child's own home.

So no, a CRB check isn't required. It is up to parents to decide who they trust to care for their children.
