Does anyone have an emergency childminder?

Gah. New job, one week in, and already, I have childcare issues. An hour on Thursday when the ILs usually watch the kids for me but they are going on holiday, nursery don't have any space that morning (kids start nursery at 12.30, I start work half an hour away at 12)

DH has no holiday left, I haven't been there long enough to accrue any and don't want to be messing them about as I have already had to refuse to start early so we could finish early last week.

i am going to have a problem on Fridays too, due to work suddenly deciding that we work 10-6 instead of 12-8 on Fridays and there being no places in nursery on a Friday morning.

Any suggestions?

You may be available to find a cm that can do some ad hoc care. I am a cm and assuming i have spaces i am more than happy ro care for some children like that :D

Maybe worth phoning round some cms in ur area and seeing if they have any spaces. You may pay a higher rate per hour.

even netmums local boards

give your local FIS a call too and ask for a list of minders in the area you want - even if they can't help ask them if they know of anyone who can.

Some creches are able to take children for 6 to 8 hours.

I know a childminder who is changing to providing ad-hoc childcare, to help in that exact situation... it will be sort of pay-as-you-go creche/nursery/after school club.

Im a childminder who provides ad hoc care, as long as It doesnt take me over my numbers, which is unlikley at the moment Grin
