CM CLUB - How many camaras have you brought since the EYFS came in? AIBU for not buying another one?

Before EYFS I used to use my camara around the house and on special trips out and occasionally if one of my mindee's was close to walking I'd take it to toddler group.

Now I take it everywhere and I've been through 4 Sad.

My most recent one was in my handbag and it fell out of the car door when I opened the door and the screen has smashed. Sad

AIBU to not buy another one until the Jan sales, even though I really one one to take pics of my dcs on xmas day? We truely are skint and as much as I want one I can't afford it and I'm sick of buying them!

I use the camera on my phone, could you do that? I then just bluetooth the pics to my printer and print them out then delete them! So no data protection issues.

Pics are then just stuck into EYFS junk!

was going to suggest using your phone camera too.

I have a PoGo printer (am not a childminder, btw, sorry for gatecrashing Grin), and bluetooth pics across form my phone to that.

pictures are reasonable quality, and the PoGo costs around £20, plus paper on top of that - I just got 70 sheets in a deal off amazon, maybe another £20?

dmo · 16/11/2010 13:34

had 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DH not impressed

last one before the one i have now was one day old and a juice cup leaked on it cost £170 so now on £50 bargain ones

dmo · 16/11/2010 13:35

lovemygirls

can you not borrow a camera for christmas? just for your family not for childminding?

PinkCanary · 16/11/2010 13:49

Same here...

Last time I went to a proper camera shop and they showed me some fujifilm / Sony cameras that come with a near indestructible casing. (not particularly attractive mind) they cost about £20 - £30 more, but if they last I guess it's worth it.

looneytune · 16/11/2010 13:51

I use my phone too as was worried about something happening to mine and no way am i shelling out money for another! You have a pogo so imagine the pics could be printed pretty quick :)

LoveMyGirls · 16/11/2010 13:54

My phone camara is not good quality at all though I do have a pogo, last time I tried to print pics off my phone I couldn't do it but if I ask dh to help me we might be able to manage it - I'm not very techinical, usually as soon as he goes out something will happen like internet will lose connection or I can't get the tv on the right channel etc I am useless and can only use my pogo if dh sets it up first Blush

I will ask to borrow a camera though with my track record I wouldn't blame anyone who said no, pil have got a camcorder thing I might see if dh can borrow instead if not.

I'm having an off week this week I think and fed up of working hard being skint/ not getting paid on time etc you know how it is sometimes. I'm sure I'll be fine once pmt is over Wink

i buy the disposable cameras about 4 times a year.. each season.. print 2 sets one for the wall of the playroom and one for parents to have..

keep receipts of camera, printitng and petrol to and from the shop..and claim the cost against tax..

i dont do photos in files.,mine are all bluetacked to playroom wall..

thats enough i feel

I have just bought a Pogo too, its brilliant! You can use either a digital camera or camera phone (there is a list on the polaroid website to check your phone is compatible) and the best thing of all is it doesn't need ink!!!!

You can buy them off Amazon.co.uk for about £22 plus the paper is about £7.

Danthe4th · 16/11/2010 17:20

Oh dear 4 cameras is quite a few, but you must get one for xmas to take photos of your family. Keep an eye out for early jan sales. Have a look on a website called hotukdeals I get all my bargains from people on there and also register on Quidco as you get cashback and some fab deals.
Argos are doing vouchers if you spend £50 you get a £5 voucher, or can you use tesco vouchers. Also have a look in asda as they have them at a good price. Find a couple of models you like and keep googling for the best price.
Also the Black friday deals are due out on the week beginning 22nd november that will be a good week on amazon.
Good luck x

Sounds like you need a robust one ..perhaps the VTech ones !! - just kidding, I'd suggest getting one off ebay, you can get 10 Megapixel ones for £20-£30, a reasonable price and you wont be as upset if you break it! Don't forget to go through a cashback website, TopCashBack is the one I always recommend as it's free and you get about 40% of the sellers listing fees (so prob about £1)...not much but a saving none the less !
