One mum wants a space for April 2011 and I have it..

One of my mindee is leaving end of march 2011 and I met this mum and she is really interested of having a vacancy for april 2011.

What should I do ? Its too early to take a deposit no ?

Not at all, I have a space booked in for December 2011. Baby still not born. I am not taking any money as yet as it is so far away, and the space doesn't become available until September 2011.

I have advised the parents that I will ask for a deposit once the baby is born, and a retainer from September onwards. Unless there are any changes in circumstances.

Nope, not too early. If you were a nursery she'd have to pay a hefty deposit.

IMO deposit now, which can be used to pay first set of fees if they show up, and retainer for any time the space is unfilled by another child.

Must be a relief to have a space filled well in advance!
